My favourite thing about the Big Day Out Forum is when people say things like this
"Somehow got roped into DJ'ing at this thing on November 29th with Gus Da Hoodrat.. I have no idea what i'll play to appeal to such a crowd.. i think i will just say fuck it and play dubstep."
"Sigh... I (somehow) got roped in to do something that heaps of people think is cool. I think it's a bit of a drag. What? You think it's cool that I'm doing it? EVEN THOUGH I'm so clearly relaxed and underwhelmed about it? Nice for you. It's a drag for me, though. Sigh... (sigh...) whatever."
That problem of being over something you're going to do anyway: if you're not into it i) you wouldn't have done it, and ii) if you did do it, you wouldn't have bragged about it. You know?
I also love bragging about it on an internet forum.
Don’t act like it was some great accident. Someone asked you to DJ, you agreed, that’s what happened.
“Fuck it, I’ll just play some Dubstep”.
You should see how much this guy mentions Dubstep. Um, vaguely deriding a particular crowd, presumably due to what they listen to and why you think they listen to it, and then trading off the presumed critical cache of some other style of music is a bit gross.
I think BDO forum may be even better than OHH.com. I can't get past that reviewer guy you once mentioned. Doesn't he always name drop people he's interviewed over the phone. "Phil Jamieson? Yeah, he was always a nice enough guy to me. I never had a problem with him whenever I spoke to him."
